Student Experience

At BRYSS P-TECH, students embark on a transformative four-year high school experience designed to blend rigorous academics, hands-on technical training, and real-world industry exposure preparing them not just for graduation, but for college completion and career readiness. 

From 9th grade, students are introduced to a supportive, career-focused environment where they begin exploring high-demand fields aligned with regional workforce needs. As they progress, they engage in a carefully sequenced pathway that integrates high school coursework with dual credit opportunities through partner institutions such as Texas State Technical College and Texas Southmost College. This allows students to simultaneously earn their high school diploma and college credit, saving time and reducing future college costs.

Throughout the program, students gain access to industry-based certifications, hands-on lab experiences, and project-based learning that mirrors real workplace expectations. They are mentored by industry professionals who provide guidance, expose them to career pathways, and help build essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism. 

In addition, students participate in internships, job shadowing, and work-based learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to authentic industry environments. These experiences help students build confidence, clarify career goals, and develop a strong sense of purpose. 

By their senior year, BRYSS P-TECH students are positioned to graduate with a high school diploma, up to two years of college credit, industry certifications, and meaningful work-based experience, giving them a competitive advantage whether they choose to enter the workforce immediately or continue their postsecondary education. 

Ultimately, the BRYSS P-TECH journey is more than education; it is about identity, opportunity, and launching students into a future where they are prepared, empowered, and connected to meaningful careers.

RYSS Brownsville P-TECH Students Attend Rally in the Valley 5.0

Rally in the Valley 5.0, hosted by the Greater Brownsville Economic Development Corporation, is a workforce-development event that connects students with local employers through internships and career exploration opportunities. It brings together industry leaders and students in an interactive setting designed to build real-world skills and expose participants to high-demand career pathways. The event plays a key role in bridging the gap between education and industry while strengthening the regional talent pipeline. Overall, it supports long-term economic growth in the Rio Grande Valley by preparing a skilled future workforce.
